Thoughts from a previous intern(s)

Hi! My name is Sarah and I totally understand how overwhelming choosing a practicum site can feel! As someone who’s passionate about counselling, the pressure to “get it right” was real. I wanted to find a placement that felt supportive, inclusive, and aligned with the kind of therapist I’m becoming.

What I found was more than I hoped for: a place where I could grow at my own pace, feel safe being myself, and work with a wide range of clients and approaches. I’ve been able to show up authentically, connect meaningfully with supervisors and peers, and expand my clinical skills in ways that feel exciting and rewarding (as well as meet all my requirements to graduate and begin working in the field).

Now, on the other side of the initial practicum nerves, I want to help make that leap easier for others. You don’t have to have it all figured out, you just need a space that sees your potential and helps you thrive, and working with Vital Minds was truly that!
