Chelsea Appiah
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve spent a long time putting everyone else’s needs first or trying to manage everything on your own. Chelsea strives to create a compassionate, culturally responsive, and collaborative space where clients feel safe to speak openly, explore difficult experiences, and work toward meaningful change. She works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and family conflict. Chelsea also has a strong interest in supporting LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients and individuals exploring racial identity, spirituality, and faith.
Chelsea brings nearly a decade of experience working across mental health, behavioural support, youth justice, housing, residential care, and community services. Her diverse background includes education in law, human rights, child and youth care, theology, and psychotherapy, providing her with a broad understanding of how culture, relationships, family systems, and social environments influence emotional well-being. She recognizes that every person’s story is unique and believes therapy should be tailored to each client’s individual goals, strengths, values, and lived experiences.
Chelsea takes an integrative, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach to therapy. She incorporates evidence-based modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and strength-based interventions. For clients who wish to incorporate their faith into counselling, Chelsea also offers spiritually integrated and Christian counselling.
Chelsea supports clients experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, stress, burnout, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem concerns, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, attachment concerns, parenting challenges, OCD, ADHD, autism, school-related concerns, and life transitions such as separation or divorce. She also has experience supporting individuals navigating racial and cultural stress, identity development, and challenges involving the legal or justice system.
Chelsea believes that meaningful change begins with feeling understood. Her goal is to help clients gain insight into their experiences, develop practical coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and build confidence as they move toward a life that feels more balanced, authentic, and connected to their values.
